Police and Rangers go after militants, target killers, robbers

At least three alleged militants were killed in an intelligence-driven raid by Rangers personnel at Yousaf Goth early on Thursday.

According to a paramilitary spokesperson, two Rangers personnel were also injured by retaliatory fire. The troops cordoned off the area and a heavy exchange of fire took place during the operation.

One militant managed to escape, while a heavy cache of automatic weapons & ammunition was recovered.

Separately, police arrested three suspects during an operation in Shah Faisal Colony. Police sources said that the suspects were involved in several cases of street crime.

Elsewhere, one person was killed and another wounded in shooting incidents in New Karachi and Landhi areas.

An arrested militant of a banned outfit has made sensational revelations during police interrogation. The militant was apprehended during a police operation in Mubeena Town area.

Shahid alias Shahidu informed the police that his 10-member gang used to collect funds to buy weapons for the purpose of target killing.

He said that his gang collected Rs 450,000 through extortion during Ramazan which was handed over to their gang leader Wasi. He also revealed that his gang killed several people in Karachi.

He further said that three members of his gang were killed in an exchange of fire with the police.

Meanwhile, in Federal B Area Block-11, a robbery attempt was foiled by area police.

Police personnel detained an injured suspect, while his associates managed to flee.
