Nayha Junaid, who lost her life along with her husband Junaid Jamshed and 46 others in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane PK-661 crash, was a former employ of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).
She remained the administrator of PFF women’s wing for two years. Nayha organised the participation of Pakistan women’s national football team in South Asian Games for the first time.
Although she was not a footballer herself, but she took care of federation funds for two years and organised all the tournaments from 2010 to 2012.
Nayha Junaid left the federation after tying the knot with Junaid Jamshed.
PFF still acknowledges Nayha Junaid’s work for the federation and has expressed deep grief over her sad and tragic demise.
PIA has a spotty safety record in the recent years. The PK-661 aircraft was en route from Chitral to Islamabad but lost contact with air traffic controllers about 20 minutes before it was due to land at 4:40 PM.
“The plane was carrying 42 passengers, 5 crew members and a ground engineer,” airline officials said. Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that there were no survivors.
