Outgoing DG ISI bids farewell visit to PM Nawaz, briefs national security situation

Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen Rizwan Akhter met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Thursday (today).

Lt Gen Rizwan Akhter met the premier in PM House Islamabad.

During the meeting, the director general ISI briefed the prime minister on matters relating to national security.

Prime Minister admired the services of DG ISI and expressed good wishes for new responsibilities and future.

Lt. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar has now been posted as President of the National Defence University (NDU) after a recent reshuffle of the Pakistan Army top brass in which 11 top officials have been transferred to new posts.

Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar, the outgoing corps commander of Karachi, has been named as the new chief of the ISI.

Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar, incumbent Director General Sindh Rangers, has been appointed the Chief of General Staff of the Pakistan Army.
