Provincial Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said on Thursday that legal action would be taken against the parents of those students who refuse the administration of polio drops to their children and that the children’s admission will also be cancelled.
He said this while talking to a delegation of the All Sindh Private Schools Management (ASPSM) here at his office on Wednesday. Khalid Shah, Faisal Khan Zai, Aftab Soomoro, Ashraf bin Muhammad and other representatives of the association were also present on the occasion.
The minister requested the office-bearers of private schools management not to allow any government teachers to teach in their institutions during school timings as this is a violation of their contract with the government. “If such a case is found, legal action would not only be taken against the teacher but the institute would also be brought to task,” he said.
“It is time to develop an atmosphere of trust between the government and the private sector. Together we will be able to achieve the target of 100 percent literacy rate in the province,” he added.
Dahar also asked private schools to cooperate with the government for the polio vaccination of students. “Only through a combined effort can we eradicate polio,” he said.
He suggested the hiring educated, trained and experienced staff so that the standard of education might be increased.
Members of the delegation, while assuring their cooperation, informed the minister of their grievances and requested him to resolve their issues as soon as possible.
