Govt. committed to protect rigthts of minorities: Sindhu

 

The Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Department Khalil Tahir Sindhu has said that the government is committed to protect the rights of minorities as well as human rights.

He stated this while addressing a Christmas dinner hosted in an honor of the ambassadors and diplomats

The Ambassadors and dignitaries of different countries attended the Christmas dinner.

Sindhu welcomed the participants of dinner and said that on this occasion Jesus Christ’s message of love, peace and harmony should remind us of our commitment to promote justice and care of downtrodden.

The minister said that important steps are adopted under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to provide proper opportunities for welfare and development of minorities.

He said that 27 conventions were signed with the European Union and a task force has been developed collaborating with the local communities at the district level to ensure the implementation of these conventions.

Furthermore, he said that the implementation of National Act Plan ensures a ban on the laud speakers, hate speeches, and hate material, obstructing the instigation and propagation of violence through religion

Sindhu said that the Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has designated a special cabinet committee in order to fulfill the requirements of the GSP Plus status of Pakistan. He expressed his gratitude to FACES Pakistan for organizing the event.

The Ambassador Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan Jean-Francois Cautain appreciated the spirit and gesture of the minister.

He also appreciated the efforts of the government to protect human rights He said we have been working closely for the betterment of different segments of society in Pakistan.He also appreciated the measures taken by the Punjab government to protect the rights of minorities.
