The mother of British boxer Amir Khan has rejected allegations of physical abuse by her daughter-in-law. Khan’s wife Faryal Makhdoom was quoted by British tabloid The Sun as saying she was “bullied physically and mentally” by her in-laws. But in an interview with a local TV channel, Khan’s mother Falak denied the allegations.

“No one has called Faryal bad names, or beaten her; nor has anyone mistreated her,” Falak Khan told at her home in Britain. Falak Khan, however, said she disapproved of their daughter-in-law’s choice of clothes. “I once told her, ‘Faryal, do not wear this type of clothes; wear a scarf’,” she said. Khan took to social media to urge his feuding family to stop the “childish behaviour”.

“My parents are my parents and my wife is my wife. Whatever misunderstanding has happened they should keep it private,” he tweeted on Tuesday.

Last week, Faryal took to Snapchat and spoke out against her in-laws and domestic abuse she had been facing after her marriage. Openly speaking out on the matter, we had a tough time believing that there may be trouble in paradise for the couple.

“Don’t get your sons married if you’re going to abuse and bully the wife,” she said in a post. “What about when your sister-in-laws come to hit you when your husband’s not home and still you don’t raise your hand out of respect for you husband?” she questioned in another post.

Amir married Faryal three years ago in New York and the two have been continuously updating fans through Instagram and Facebook ever since.
