Keeping pace with the technological advancement, E-Challan service has been initiated in the provincial capital to deal with the issues of traffic violation. The move calls for applause as it will help maintain traffic law and order in Lahore which is one of the most densely populated cities in the country. According to details, more than 17,000 traffic violations were observed in a month through cameras installed only on Mall Road and about 1000 citizens had been sent e-Challans for breaking rules in the city. It is hoped that besides generating automated challans this new system would not only monitor the citizens but police officers as well who are often involved in bribery.
