Federal govt releases grant of Rs 3.5 billion for four lane road through Sialkot

The federal government has released a special grant of Rs 3.5 billion for the construction of a four-lane 61 km long main Sialkot road.

According to the Federal Minister for Law and Climate Change Zahid Hamid, the construction will begin in January 2017 and end in March 2018.

Officials of the Punjab Highways Department say that as many as six bridges and 40 other corridors will also be established on this road to save it from flood disasters caused by seasonal rain.

This project is expected to provide better means of transport to the neighbouring districts of Sialkot and Narowal, while also opening up new vistas of socio-economic development in the region.

This main road will pass through the electoral constituencies of two federal ministers, Zaid Hamid from Sialkot, and Narowal based Minister for Planning and Development Ch Ehsan Iqbal.
