Khattak suspends police station staff for illegally detaining, torturing accused

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak suspended the entire staff of Kutawali police station for detaining an accused illegally and subjecting him to torture.

He made the decision during his surprise visit to the police station.

According to details, Pervaiz Khattak, during a surprise visit to the Kutawali police station, suspended the entire police personnel of the station. Pervaiz Khattak and MPA Shaukat Yousufzai were informed about the detention of a man, who was charged of stealing a laptop. Both were told that the accused had been tortured and detained without an FIR.

Khattak made a surprise visit, but in the meantime the accused had been shifted from the Kutawali police station, but there were visible signs of torture on the accused person’s body and there was no FIR registered.

Khattak ordered action against the entire staff of the police station and suspended all of them.

Talking to media, the chief minister said that the police must not use torture as means of investigation; instead scientific techniques should be brought to use.
