President Karachi Transport Action Committee Muhammad Ashraf Bangalori has demanded of the government to ensure safety of passengers who are paying huge fares for travelling by air.
In a statement here on Sunday, Bangalori demanded thorough checks for passenger aircrafts and said that old craft should be immediately withdrawn from the fleet.
He alleged that people paid high fares for purchase of air tickets, but this expense could not buy them security of life.
Ashraf Bangalori demanded that the investigation into the ATR aircraft crash near Havelian on December 7 be made public.
Criticizing the airline’s pilots as well, Bangalori said that to meet their demands -including enhancement of salaries and other allowances- these pilots and their associations put pressure on the government by resorting to strikes, but had never opted to exert pressure on the administration to ensure proper maintenances of aircraft.
