Land acquired for Sialkot-Lahore motorway, project to start shortly: Kh Asif

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that people have matured politically and they had already rejected the ‘dharna politics’ and negative politics of conflict by the political opponents in the country.

He stated this while addressing an important meeting of the local elected chairmen and vice chairman of the union councils and local parliamentarians held at PML-N house here on Saturday.

Khawaja Asif said that the graph of the popularity of the political rivals has dropped to a great extent in every nook and corner of the country, and it was also dropping further day by day due to the negative style politics of conflict by the political rivals.

He said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s rejection of proposed establishment of a commission by the Supreme Court of Pakistan has further dropped the graph of political popularity of PTI across the country as well.

The defence minister pledged to make all out sincere efforts to solve all the prolonged perturbing civic problems in Sialkot city during the year 2017, saying that the Sialkot campus of National University of Science and Technology (NUST) would soon be established near Sambrial for providing quality higher educational to the local students at the local level.

He also announced that the construction work of mega project of Sialkot-Lahore motorway would be started within the next couple of days near Saahowala, Daska and Sialkot as well under the joint supervision of National Highway Authority (NHA) and Frontier Works Organisation (FWO).

He said all the needed land had already been acquired for this Sialkot-Lahore motorway project.

Earlier, he visited Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). On this occasion, he assured the Sialkot exporters about the early amicable solution to their prolonged perturbing problems, including the early release of the needed funds for issuance of much-delayed duty drawback and sales tax refund claims (worth billions of rupees) of the Sialkot exporters.
