Dense fog engulfs Lahore; disrupts air, road traffic

The spell of dense fog in Lahore and its adjoining areas has disrupted air and  traffic as flight schedule was suspended and prompted closure of several sections of the motorway on late the Friday.

According to details, due to heavy fog, visibility is reduced to Zero as a result Motorway from Lahore to Pindi Bhattiyan and Lahore to Sheikhupura was closed.

The visibility was reduced to 50-100 metres at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, the Met Office said, affecting departure and arrival of flights.

Vehicular traffic was also halted from Pindi Bhattiyan to Faisalabad due to thick mist.

Passengers are also facing difficulties at G.T Road from Lahore to Okara.

The Motorway police appealed to the drivers to use fog lights and drive at very slow speed.

The commuters have also been requested people to stay home and avoid unnecessary travelling.

The National Highway Authority strongly recommended the vehicle owners to drive slow and use fog lights while driving.
