Quetta, Chaman and other areas in North Balochistan on Saturday experienced season’s first downpour, further intensifying the cold wave.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain in Punjab, KP, Azad Kashmir and Balochistan during the next 24 hours. According to the PMD, a fresh western disturbance is likely to enter upper parts of the country on Saturday and likely to persist till Monday.
The PMD said the rain-thunderstorm (snowfall over the hills) was expected at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Bannu, DI Khan divisions), FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan while at isolated places in upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad divisions), Quetta, Zhob divisions and Islamabad.
Light rain-thunderstorm/drizzle was also expected along Makran, Sindh coast. Cold and dry weather was expected elsewhere in the country. Dense foggy conditions are likely to prevail over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during night and morning hours.
