US, China express condolences over plane crash

The United States conveyed condolences over the plane crash on Wednesday and said it was ready to offer any assistance to Pakistan.

“Obviously, our condolences to the victims of that plane crash. We have offered any assistance we can offer to the Pakistani government and our embassy in Islamabad is in contact with the government to see if we can help with rescue or recovery operations,” US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Mark Toner said during briefing.

Asked to comment on Indian prime minister and Afghan president’s criticism of Pakistan at the Heart of Asia Conference in India, the spokesperson said the US has been encouraging Pakistan and Afghanistan to cooperate in their counter terrorism operations and efforts because that’s only going to contribute to regional stability.

He said as for as US was concerned, Washington has consistently expressed its concerns to the highest levels of the Pakistan government about their continued tolerance for Afghan Taliban groups such as the Haqqani network operating from Pakistan soil.

China offers condolences to Pakistan over plane crash:

Likewise, China on Thursday expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims of the plane crash.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang made the remarks at a routine press briefing. Lu said that Chinese people stand firmly with Pakistani people at this sad moment.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Chinese embassy in Pakistan have verified the Chinese victim’s identity and are giving support to his family, he said.

Meanwhile, Chinese ambassador in Islamabad Sun Weidong also expressed his deep sense of sorrow over the tragic incidents, stating that the Chinese people stand by their brothers at this hour of grief.
