Rain, thunderstorms are likely in the country

Rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places in Kashmir, Upper Punjab, Khaber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and Gilgit Baltistan in next 24 hours.

Cold and dry weather is expected to persist elsewhere in the country whereas foggy conditions to prevail over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during night and morning hours.

Rainfall is expected in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan divisions, FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan while at isolated places in Quetta, Zhob divisions, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad divisions) and Islamabad.

Light rain-thunderstorm and drizzle is also expected along Makran, Sindh coast.

Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country.  A fresh western disturbance is likely to enter upper parts of the country tonight and likely to affect till Monday, an official of Met office told APP.

In last 24 hours weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country while dense foggy conditions prevailed over most plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh.

Minimum temperatures recorded on Friday remained: Skardu -06C, Hunza -04C, Gilgit, Gupis -02C, Kalat -01C Kalam, Astore 00C, Dir 01C, Quetta 01C, Chitral 02C, Murree 04C, Muzaffarabad 05C,Islamabad 06C, Peshawar 07C, Lahore 09C, Faisalabad 10C, Multan 11C, Karachi 15C and Hyderabad 16C.
