Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira Khan starrer Raees trailer was released earlier this week, becoming the first-ever Bollywood film trailer to reach 21 million views within 24 hours.
The much-anticipated trailer was brewing a storm across social media, just minutes after its release with the movie trending worldwide.
The figures increased, with the trailer garnering over 15 million views on YouTube alone as well as 300K likes, DNA reported.
Further, on Facebook, the trailer crossed 9 million views and over 200K likes. On the day of its release, #RaeesTrailer began trending on Twitter within minutes.
The film’s trailer has set a new benchmark with a maximum number of digital views for any Bollywood film, beating the trailer for Aamir Khan’s Dangal which had 9 million views in 24 hours.
The 2 minute 46-second long action-packed trailer gives Mahira ample screen time and as an Indian journalist aptly stated she’s the “surprise package,” who plays the role of SRK’s love interest in the film which marks her Bollywood debut. Meanwhile, King Khan plays the role of a Gujarati bootlegger, Raees Alam.
Directed by Rahul Dholakia, the film is slated to release on January 25, 2017.
