govt and private departments owe more than Rs10 million to WASA

Several government and private departments are defaulters of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) for the last several years and the agency has formed several teams to recover the arrears from them.

According to details, ten departments including police, education, metropolitian and PHC are the defaulters, who have not cleared the WASA dues for several years. They owe Rs 10 million to the civic agency.

According to the record, Waqar-un-Nisa College, education board, DEO office and many other educational institutions have to pay Rs 0.86m.

According to the sources, on the other hand, PARCO owes an amount of Rs 1.9m, WAPDA, 19,058, municipal corporation, Rs 6m, forest department, Rs 0.1m, agriculture department owes an amount of 7,138, solid waste management Rs 79 thousand, and Habib bank, Allied bank and Punjab bank have  Rs 0.24m arrears.

WASA sources said they have directed the special teams to ensure recovery of the dues otherwise the water and other facilities would be withdrawn.
