- Rangers recover arms in raid on gang war accused house; drug bust; man shot dead
At least 10 alleged suspects, including five terrorists affiliated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), were arrested in the wee hours of Friday from different areas of the metropolis.
According to reports, Police on credible information launched an action in Orangi Town No.11 and rounded up five terrorists affiliated with TTP. They were identified as Shahzad, Noor Muhammad, Abdul Mannan, Arsalan Khan and Salman Khan. Authorities claimed that the arrested suspects were planning terror strikes in Orangi Town.
Police have recovered five Kalashnikovs and one and a half kilogram of explosive material from the possession of the arrested terrorists. The arrested terrorists informed police during initial investigation that their group consists of TTP activists from Swat and Wana.
A Rangers raid on a house in Purana Golimar area near Lyari on Thursday night netted a large quantity of arms.
A Rangers spokesman informed that the house belonged to gang war accused Riasat of Uzair Bloch group. The ammunition recovered from the house included nine SMGs, two repeaters, one 32-bore pistol, eleven 9MM pistols, nine 30-bore pistols, one air gun, one 30-bore mauser, 76 hand grenades and detonators, a bomb and 5,000 bullets.
Rangers also recovered 841 kg of hashish, 122 kg heroin and 480 bottles of liquor from the house. The Rangers spokesman said that the arms were stored in the house to carry out target killing and terrorist attacks in the city.
Meanwhile, drug dealer Imran alias Decorationwala, was arrested by police personnel near the Old Sabzi Mandi area, however his accomplices managed to flee the spot. Weapons and narcotics were recovered from him.
In a raid at a gambling den in Landi, four alleged gamblers Gul Zaid, Faqir Mama, Sajjad Hussain and Muhammad Alam were taken into custody.
On the other hand, some unidentified persons shot a man dead in the Liaquatabad No-8 area. Police also recovered the dead body of a woman from near the Fatima Hospital in Patel Para area. The identity of the deceased is not yet known.
