Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Country Director Osamu Hisaki has said that Pakistan was on the top among 20 Asian countries for the Japanese investors. For decades, Japanese investors’ prime focus was automobile sector but now they were also going to invest in fast moving consumer goods.

While talking to Pakistan Today at Japan Business Exhibition 2016, he said Pakistan was a populated country and we were looking great potential here from business point of view.

The JETRO conducted a survey recently, in which 76.7 per cent respondents replied that they intended to expand their business in Pakistan.

According to the survey, Pakistan was on number 1 among 20 Asian countries including India, China, Iran, Malaysia and Bangladesh where Japanese companies were present and wanted to expand their operations.

He said that 82 Japanese companies were doing business in Pakistan, almost all of them were in automobile sector however now some Japanese companies were looking towards market of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCGs).

At least, 5 million babies were born every year in Pakistan, those babies needed diapers, ‘more population meant more needs’, that’s why we were heading towards FMCGs,” said Osamu Hisaki while showing the hygiene products showcased at the exhibition.

He said the exhibition was getting great response since a large number of high profile personalities from business and media came to witness the Japanese products in the show.

Japanese companies related to pharmacy, construction, transport/automobile, industrial machinery, textile, paint and other businesses presented their products for various sectors of Pakistan at the exhibition.

The professionals from different business sectors showed interest in Japanese cars and motorbikes, healthcare, pharma, chemicals, steel, machinery, paints, along with other Japanese products.

He said the JETRO as the facilitator organization of the Japanese government for trade has always prioritized bilateral economic exhibitions and bridging the gap between Pakistani and Japanese business communities to bring them together for interests and economic prosperity of the both nations.
