Humayun Jamshed, the brother of singer-turned-preacher Junaid Jamshed who died in the tragic plane crash on Wednesday, said the icon was a “loving, compassionate” man who cared deeply for those around him.
“I am in shock over his death,” Humayun Jamshed said while talking to journalists in Islamabad after he arrived to collect the remains of his brother and sister-in-law.
“But my heart is content that my brother died on his way from Tableegh,” Humayun said, adding that Junaid was blessed to have died during preaching, Islam.
“Junaid was away on Tableegh to Canada when our mother died. And he was also on Tableegh in the UK when our father departed,” the brother recalled.
Junaid Jamshed along with his wife was killed in the Islamabad-bound PIA flight that crashed near Havelian on Wednesday. A famous preacher, Junaid Jamshed travelled extensively to spread Islamic teachings. He was in Chitral for preaching-related work and was on board the ill-fated PK-661 flight.
Remains of the 47 victims of the plane crash are being flown from the Ayub Medical Complex to Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
