Ajoka theatre’s new play “Dukh Darya” opens at Alhamra, Lahore on 8 December.

Based on the true story of an Azad Kashmiri woman arrested in Jammu, the play addresses the sensitive issue of the identity of the women of Kashmir caught in the crossfire between the governments on both sides of the border.

The story of Shehnaz and her daughter is skillfully interwoven with stories of the suffering of women, based on historical events and mythology to create a powerful and tragic narrative. The play has been written by Shahid Nadeem and directed by Madeeha Gauhar. “
