Former Army Chief visits grave of Major Shabbir Sharif on his 46th death anniversary

Former Chief of Army Staff General (rtd.) Raheel Sharif with his family visited the grave of his elder brother, Mjor Shabbir Sharif Shaheed on his martyrdom anniversary Tuesday (today).

He was martyred at Sulemanki Headworks during the 1971 war and was awarded Nishan-e-Haider on his extraordinary gallantry.

A contingent of the armed forces paid salute to the martyr.

General Officer Commanding Major General Fida Hussain Malik was the chief guest on the occasion, who laid floral wreath and offered fateha on the Shaheed’s grave.

Former Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif along with his wife also laid floral wreath and offered Fateha on the Mazar.

  1. When we talk of Shaheeds, Major Shabbir was the genuine Shaheed according to the ruling of the Holi Quran – killed for a cause ie. saving the country and honor of the Nation. There are many more included in this category and their anniversaries are also celebrated even if killed for killing 'others' and drinking alcohol. We must differentiate to save the Shaheeds Rutba from the 'fake' ones.
