One of the main suspects in the Baldia Factory Fire case Abdul Rahman alias Bhola arrested from Thailand by Interpol is expatriated to Pakistan.

Rehman was Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) sector in-charge of Baldia town. He went to Dubai from Pakistan, later shifting to Malaysia and then finally at Thailand. As many as 40 commandos raided a room at the Royal Garden Home Hotel in Soi Nana yesterday evening and arrested him.

On November 28 during the hearing of the Baldia Factory Fire case the anti-terrorism court grilled authorities for not being able to arrest Hammad Siddiqui and Rehman alias Bhola, the other two suspects of the case. The court had ordered the interior ministry to arrest fugitives with the help of Interpol.

A JIT probing the matter stated that Hammad Siddiqui had ordered Rahman alias Bhola and others to set the factory on fire.

Rahman is one of the three main accused. Zubair alias Lala is in police custody, while Hammad Siddiqui is still at large.

Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) and MQM Pakistan in separate statements refuted allegations that Rahman was once associated with their parties.

  1. They ALL are product of Altaf Hussain's MQM. Be it Hammad Siddiqui, Bhola or Mustafa Kamaal. Some have self confessed the criminal past and have separated like Mustafa Kamal and many members of former MQM like Dr Saghir one. The only difference, perhaps, is they were not directly involved in any grave criminal activities like Target killings, Bhatta Khori or Land grabbing etc and have returned to Pakistan and formed their own Political party. But those with grave involvement in criminal activities like Bhola and Hammad Siddiqui were hiding in Dubai, Malaysia and then Thailand. And many more in safe houses like South Africa, Australia and Canada etc. The Baldia Factory is one of the gravest crime AH's MQM has committed – killing 260 people, but that is not the end of the story. Despite years of wrangling, forming and disbanding JITs and chancing and firing of IOs, nothing concrete has come out so far. One reason said to be involvement of very high-ups in the case including some PPP leaders in authority. PPP was and is in power in Sind and Karachi for years and bears the responsibility for what has happened and happening.
