SHC issues notice to prosecutor NAB in Dr Asim corruption case

Sindh High Court (SHC) Monday (today) issued notice to prosecutor National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over the plea regarding immediate hearing of Dr Asim corruption case.

During the hearing of Dr Asim case pertaining to Rs17 billion corruption, the defence lawyer said that his client is seriously ill, therefore; his bail should be granted.

The court remarked that the bail cannot be approved without hearing the stance of NAB.

The judge while accepting the plea to conduct an immediate hearing of Dr Asim’s case adjourned the proceedings till December 13.

Dr Asim, a close aide to former president Asif Ali Zardari, along with his accomplices, faces charges of misusing his authority for getting plots allotted fraudulently and encroaching upon state land for expansion of Dr Ziauddin Hospital/Trust, money laundering, illegal gains, kickbacks, commission through fertiliser cartel for illegal curtailment of gas for exploitative price hike and defrauding people in the name of charity hospital.
