PM Nawaz, Army Chief Bajwa discuss national security issues

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday to discuss issues concerning to national security, according to a statement from the PM House.

They also discussed situation at the border and Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

 General Bajwa also held a separate meeting with President Mamnoon Hussain who felicitated the former on assuming the command of Pakistan Army.

During the meeting National Action Plan (NAP) and Operation Zarb-e-Azb were discussed and the president asked the Army Chief to continue efforts to achieve their objectives.

On Friday, Army chief said that every ceasefire violation along the Line of Control will be responded to with full force and in an effective manner.

Further, Gen Bajwa said that India’s ‘aggressive posture’ solely aimed to divert the world’s attention from the atrocities being committed by their troops in held Kashmir.

He stressed that the core issue of Kashmir will have to be resolved between the two countries, in line with UN resolutions and aspirations of the people of the valley, for lasting peace in the region.
