The investigation regarding the death of Javed Khanani of the Khanani and Kalia group was underway as the labourers arrested from the crime scene were released on Monday.
Javed Khanani died on Sunday after falling from an under-construction building in Karachi’s Mohammad Ali Society.
According to SSP Gulshan, the labourers were having their lunch at the time of the incident, adding that Javed’s body was examined at his residence yesterday.
Assistant Police Surgeon Dr Kaleem in his report termed the cause of death as electrocution. However, he added that the body could not be examined properly.
He said that if a post-mortem had been conducted on the body then a CT scan and an X-ray would have also been conducted which would reveal if it was the fall that killed him.
Hospital sources earlier revealed that Javed Khanani was already dead when brought to the hospital’s emergency department.
Khanani’s next of kin did not allow a complete examination and had the dead body taken back home, sources added.
The money exchange group has been under scrutiny by the FIA since 2008 due to laundering and fraud allegations.
