Pakistan Today

A welcome step

Keeping in view the rise in natural calamities i.e. rains and floods due to change in climate and weather patterns and their effects on agricultural productivity, the decision by the Punjab Government to launch a pilot project to figure out the most effective methods of minimising the impact of climate change on the agriculture sector is welcoming. Since agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy therefore the initiative by the government deserves applause. According to details, Rs99.96 million has been earmarked for the project under which modern techniques of rainwater management will be adopted. It is hoped that the government would remain sincere in its efforts to help deal with the climate change as no other movement is more important than modern environmental.
