Pakistan International Airline (PIA) said as many as 16 of its cabin crew and members belonging to Islamabad and Peshawar offices received injuries in a fire outbreak at Karachi’s Regent Plaza hotel.
At least 11 people including three doctors and four women were killed in the pre-dawn blaze that overtook the hotel at 3am in the dark of night.
The stampede that the raging fire triggered Sunday night left at least 75 people injured; of them, most people have broken bones injuries.
Panicked with advancing fire, they jumped from the upper floors to save their lives. Bodies and the wounded were shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
According to a press release issued by the PIA’s Public Affairs Division, most of the cabin crew have been discharged from the hospital after necessary first aid; while others are still undergoing medical treatment.
