Regional skills competition to help enhance vocational skills of youth

A regional skills competition is going to be held on Monday to enhance vocational skills of youth and as a step forward towards boost in morale of the students and attract them towards vocational education.

The regional skills competition is being organised by National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) in which a number of trainees will participate from AJK, Gilgit Baltistan, Rawalpindi and Islamabad to exhibit their skills in six trades including, auto cad, general electrician, plumbing/pipe fitting, beautician, fashion designing and dress making, said a press release issued on Sunday.

It is worth mentioning that earlier skills competitions at zonal levels were held across the country and their winners would now participate in provincial competitions.

These skills competition focus on capacity building of our youth so that they are in a better position to secure jobs both at domestic and international market, NAVTTC Executive Director, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema said.

He said equipping youth with technical and vocational skills is a gateway toward the socio-economic development of any country.

The winner of each trade will be awarded with Rs 75,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 would be awarded to first, second and third position holders, respectively.
