The Liaquat University Hospital received over Rs 580 million for the purchase of medicines.
Sindh High Court Assistant Registrar Muhammad Iqbal Memon was informed about the medicines’ budget during a visit to LUH here on Sunday. Medical Superintendent Dr Wajid Memon apprised the registrar that the hospital received over Rs 497 million for purchase of the medicines through the tendering process. Another sum of Rs 87.75 million was given by the government for local purchase of the medicines, he added.
The MS complained that despite the SHC’s order the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) had failed to cut off the illegal water connections from the LUH’s water supply line. Dr Pir Manzoor, the security in charge of the hospital, informed the assistant registrar that the SHC recently ordered the Hyderabad police to establish 2 police pickets inside the hospital. However, he complained that the police had so far not complied with the order.
The registrar also visited the gynaecology, paediatrics and other wards of the hospital. The inspection visits are being carried out following the SHC’s order.
