Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Sunday demanded the government improve infrastructure and ensure provision of all basic facilities at Ferozpur Road Industrial Area (FRIA) and all other units in industrial estates.
Talking to an FRIA Association delegation headed by Adnan Khalid Butt here, LCCI President Abdul Basit said that provision of electricity, gas, water and all related facilities to all industrial units was necessary for revenue generation and the creation of employment opportunities.
Adnan Butt informed the LCCI president that Ferozpur Road Industrial Area had no proper drainage and water supply system, which were a source of problems for the industrialists and workers. He said that the FRIA body discussed the situation with WASA Deputy Managing Director (Operations) a few days back but the issues are still unresolved.
The LCCI president said that the best concept and example of trade, economic and industrial activities could be highlighted in Punjab by transforming industrial estates into model estates, adding that it would put a very positive impact on the overall investment scenario in the province and entire country.
He termed measures for infrastructure development, promotion of education and health, and signal-free roads in various cities as ‘revolutionary steps of the Punjab government’, which would have far-reaching results. However, he added, industrial and trade centres must also be given equal attention by departments concerned.
