Over 9.7m cotton bales reach ginneries across Pakistan

9,778,451 bales of cotton (Phutti) arrived at ginneries across Pakistan by December 1 this year. This is an increase of 13.28 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year.

According to a recent issue of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association’s fortnightly newsletter, out of all arrivals, Phutti equivalent to 8,900,666 bales have undergone the ginning process by December 1. The process of ginning remains in progress across Pakistan.

The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has not started purchase of cotton so far. However, exporters have purchased 184,944 cotton bales.

Textile mills have purchased 7,683,980 bales during the recent season. Exactly 199,527 bales were still lying with the ginneries as unsold stock, the report added.
