Intl Day of Persons with Disabilities celebrated at Rising Sun Institute

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was celebrated here at Rising Sun Institute for Special Children on Saturday.

The event was arranged by Pakistan Peace Collective and Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage in collaboration with Rising Sun Education and Welfare Society.

The Corps Commander Lahore Lt Gen Sadiq Ali, speaking as chief guest, thanked all those who give their time and resources for the welfare of special children.

“The Rising Sun Institute is trying its best to make children independent and successful”, he added.

He lauded the dedication of teachers and faculty members who work hard for the welfare and rehabilitation of special children which was a great contribution and said that support for the institute would continue as it was our collective responsibility to support special children for strengthening them.

Other speakers highlighted the importance of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities with emphasis on creating awareness among general public about the capabilities and disabilities of special children and admired the organisations which were serving special children.

Prizes were distributed among the children for their achievements in different activities.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was being marked under the theme ‘Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want’, which draws attention to the 17 sustainable development goals and how these goals can create a more inclusive and equitable world for persons with disabilities.

Former Punjab governor Khalid Maqbool, Rising Sun Education and Welfare Society President and Founder Parveen Tawwab, Mahmood Ahmad, Saleem Raza Khan, Dr Shahzad Tawwab and others were also present.
