South Waziristan Assistant Political Officer (APO) Muhammad Shoaib Khan on Thursday said that the last phase of the repatriation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) of South Waziristan Agency has started and will be completed by December this year.
Talking to APP by telephone on Friday, he said that aid was being provided to the returning IDPs. He said that the government was giving food items, ten thousand rupees for transportation, and another twenty-five thousand to each returning family. The government is also providing Rs 400,000 to those families whose homes have been destroyed completely, and Rs 140, 000 to those families with partially damaged houses, as compensation.
To a question, he said that the FATA Secretariat, Federal Government, and Political Administration were trying to launch various projects for the social welfare and development of the area.
