Supreme Court (SC) on Friday acquitted a death-row and life imprisonment prisoner.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa acquitted Mohammad Anar was for lack of evidence.

A trial court had sentenced him to death for a murdering his lover’s husband. The Lahore High Court converted his death sentence into life sentence.

Justice Asif Saeed Khosa remarked that the suspect spends his time in prison while no action is taken against a dishonest plaintiff.

He said that the statements of witnesses are not trustworthy.

In another case, SC nullified the verdict of Lahore High Court (LHC) and released a kidnapping for ransom suspect Muhammad Shahid.

The judge said that police made up a fabricated story as neither the police was informed of the abduction nor the hostage was recovered from the possession of the suspect.
