The United States on Wednesday said that it is aware of the border tensions between Pakistan and India at the Line of Control (LoC).

Speaking at the daily news briefing, State Department spokesperson John Kirby said that both the neighbouring countries should pursue negotiations to resolve their common issues.

“We’ve talked about the threat of extremism there in the region. It affects everybody on both sides. And we continue to want to see dialogue and discussion between India and Pakistan to improve cooperation, to improve communication, and improve shared efforts against a common threat,” Kirby said.

To a question about sectarian violence, the spokesman said, “Pakistani leaders know all too well the threats of extremism and terrorism inside their own borders because they’ve lost too many soldiers and too many citizens. We continue to have conversations with them about the extremist threat that resides inside of their own borders“.
