Murder case lodged against Mumtaz Bhutto, others

An FIR has been registered at Ketty Mumtaz police station against Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, his estate manager Nadir Mirani and 12 others by Muhammad Punhal s/o Ihsan Khuhro, under sections 395, 302, 148, 149, 109, 337 and 506/2 PPC.

In the FIR, it has been alleged that applicant Punhal Khuhro, his brother Asadullah Khuhro and others were grazing their cattle at the lake of Tariq Khuhro when armed men, including Nadir Mirani, his son Zahid Mirani, Imamdin Narejo, Niaz Kurio, Mor Narejo and others, came to them armed with sophisticated weapons and said to them that Mumtaz Bhutto had directed them to kill you and take away your cattle.

Punhal’s statement reads: his brother Asadullah, aged 30 years, replied that why would you kill us, then they fired bullets at him in which he was seriously injured. We arranged transport and rushed him to Chandka Hospital’s emergency ward in Larkana where he expired, he further stated. They took away our 50 cows with them and threatened if we followed they will kill them too, he further alleged. The applicant further stated that on the instigation of accused Mumtaz Bhutto, the other accused killed his brother and took away his cows.

Asadullah Khuhro was gunned down three days ago near village Mitho Khuhro located in the limits of Ketty Mumtaz police station.

After the FIR, heavy contingents of police conducted raids in the wee hours of Wednesday at the residences of Nerejo & Mirani communities in village Allah Warayo Machi and Naundero respectively. Police entered into the house of Nadir Mirani who is Estate Manager of Mumtaz Bhutto and arrested his son named Farhan Mirani as they could not find anyone else. Sajid, Imran and Mujahid Narejo were also arrested by the police.

After hearing the news, the activists of Sindh National Front (SNF) came out of their homes in Larkana & Naundero, took out rallies and held protest demonstrations against lodging of, what they called, fake FIR against their party Chairman demanding its withdrawal. SNF Media Coordinator Ibrahim Abro told Newsmen that Mumtaz Ali Bhutto has been granted protective bail by Sindh High Court, Karachi.
