Excise Police Sukkur foiled an attempt to smuggle a large number of arms and ammunition into Karachi. The smugglers, however, managed to flee the scene.
According to details a E&T department Sukkur team under Investigative Officer Jam Ameer Ali Dahar, following a tip, obstructed a truck with registration number LEI 9595 at Sindh-Punjab check post Kamboo Shaheed, and during the search recovered 30 kilogram charas, 16 rifles, 82 pistols, 10 magazines and 21,500 live rounds for the rifles. However the accused taking the advantage of the darkness managed to escape.
Excise police seized the drugs and arms/ammunition and have impounded the truck as well. A case has been lodged and investigations are under way.
