Immediately after taking oath as provincial minister, Chief Minister Taskforce for Spurious Drugs Chairman Khawaja Imran Nazir conducted raid on a private medical store in Neela Gumband area of the city.
Raw material and chemical used in manufacturing of medicines worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were recovered from the premises.
The raiding party included Drug Controller Azhar Saleemi, Muhammad Jamil, Kamal Sikandar and Amama Hussain. The police party was also accompanied by the officials and an accused Muhammad Anwar Khan has been arrested by the police and FIR has been registered in the New Anarkali Police Station.
According to details, the action was taken on a tip-off, on which the provincial minister along with Health Department’s officials raided the premises of a private store from where huge quantity of raw material used in ofloxacin, paracatamol, caffeine, salicylic acid, youhimbine and aspirin were recovered.
Khawaja Imran Nazir told that the raw material was illegally stored and reiterated that elements involved in such illegal trade would not be spared at any cost. He further said that legal action would also be taken against the owners of the store.
