Alas, the flag is now flying at half mast

The demise of the revolutionary Fidel Castro has just awakened the soul of the entire international community, right from the people, the politicians to the media.

I always carry great respect for my lovable teachers who were the pillars during my schooldays and college-years. I had loved the subject of history during my schooldays in the years like 1993, 1994 and 1995 in my native districts of Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. The way my teachers were used to teaching the students history by heart had inspired me a lot.

And incidentally whenever I am seeing the report on Fidel Castro in the newspapers, I feel nostalgic about my favorite subjects like history apart from kindling the good schooldays. Ergo, Castro has long been my inspiration or one of “my inspiring things.”

First off, there are many valuable lessons to be learnt from the life and the history of Castro. His great confidence, strong physique, inspiring intellect, relentless steadiness and commanding willpower are great aspects that can be utilised or emulated towards resolving the bigger issues facing the world today such as hunger, discrimination, terrorism, political hegemony and economic disparity – above all, the vast world disorder.

As human beings, we always stick to our stuff almost 24/7. We keep on talking about cinema and politics.

But unfortunately, we often flunk our country and flunk its growth, mostly due to factors like mundane [competitive] life, bad politics and strange mania that restrict us and our real power.

For us all, it is time to get inspiration from the historic life of Fidel Castro. If the countries the world over emulate the path unleashed by Castro, there will be real change in the functioning system of the international community soon.

The revolutionary is no more. Now the flag is flying at half mast. RIP, Castro!
