New Zealand had a first innings lead of 55 over Pakistan when rain forced the abandonment of play during the final session on the third day of the second Test against Pakistan.

It was the third time the rain had driven players from the field in Hamilton on Sunday.

New Zealand faced only one ball for no run in their second innings when play was washed out.

Pakistan were all out in their first innings for 216 with Babar Azam unbeaten on 90.

For New Zealand, Tim Southee took six for 80.
