In an exclusive interview with Dr Moeed Pirzada, Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said that the Indian government has been trying it’s best to save Nawaz Sharif’s post and his interests. India, he said, has been continually provoking Pakistan at the border because India has been reassured that the Pakistani government will not retaliate.

“Narendra Modi is content with Nawaz Sharif. He knows that Nawaz Sharif’s government will not move or retaliate, however much they are provoked and abused. The state of India has invested a lot in Nawaz Sharif four years prior to the general elections and they have strived a lot for Nawaz Sharif’s survival as Prime Minister”

The religious scholar and politician said that the ruling party will get a clean chit out of this whole affair.

“The PML-N might get a clean chit from the Supreme Court on the Panama scandal. With the next general elections so near, the current ruling party might use this to favour them in the next elections as a campaign pointer, declaring themselves free of all charges in front of crowds”

Responding to a question about his relations with Imran khan, Dr. Qadri said that the feud was a mere speculation.

“I don’t know what feud there is. That is only baseless speculation. I condemned the calling off of the 2nd November dharna. That is all I would say. People will realize it soon enough after the corrupt are exposed. Imran Khan and I have always supported each other’s causes and if there is a problem, I don’t know about it.”

Commenting on the institutional strength of the Pakistani armed forces, he said that Pakistan Army stands guard over the nuclear arsenal, which is the basis of our sovereignty.

“Over the years I have observed the situation in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon. It is heart-wrenching to think that Pakistan could be next in line. The only barricade stopping a third force from attacking our country, is the fact that our armed forces stand guard over the nuclear arsenal. Our nuclear assets have been governed and protected y the army, which is why we are still on our feet. Corrupt leaders have left no loose ends in trying to compromise Pakistan’s sovereignty. Pakistan had to become a nuclear power, the credit cannot go to Nawaz Sharif. That would’ve happened had anyone been Prime Minister. If God forbid there is ever a compromise on that front, then I cannot say what might happen”

Dr. Qadri vehemently refused to comment on the Army Chief’s retirement. “I will not comment on that now, I want to wait for four to five days”.

Dr. Qadri said that he had trained his workers for around thirty years.

“I have trained my workers; they are committed to their cause. Their cause is worth more than their own lives. Political leaders cannot call out their workers by the use of force. A leader can only call out to his workers on his word.

The PAT Chief expressed his disappointment on the state of affairs, saying that state institutions have been completely compromised.

“I don’t see Pakistan’s future safe. Our institutions are in shambles, bureaucracy is under the influence of the royal family, rulers of the state favour the elite and the poor people are snubbed more and more every day. A family kingdom is being run in the name of democracy and the leaders have links to terrorists. The FBR, NAB, Courts of Justice, FIA are completely dysfunctional with no actual authorities. The spirit of democracy is no more”

He said that the usual leaders are very talented in the suit of corruption.

“They can make money off of anything. The Qatar Prince’s letter is a worthless piece of paper. If the Sharif family has admitted to owning the London flats, then they should be held accountable for it.

Dr. Qadri said that the Panama case will delayed till the point that it becomes irrelevant.

“The Panama case will be delayed. There is a possibility that a commission might be formed. There is another possibility that an aged Judge might be appointed over the matter by the PML-N government to oblige to their wishes. Like the aged judge that was appointed the head of the commission formed to investigate the Cyril leaks. The newly appointed Governor of Sindh is very old as well. These types of appointments are made by the leaders for their own intents and purposes.
