A medical board constituted by the Sindh health department to assess the health of a class VIII student of the Cadet College, Larkana, who was tortured allegedly by a teacher at the institution,would now examine the boy on Friday, officials said on Wednesday.
The 10-member board was initially to examine the child at the medical ICU-2 (intensive care unit) of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre at 11.30am on Monday, however, it could not meet because Dr Umer Farooq, leading ENT surgeon of the Civil Hospital Karachi was abroad.
A senior official in the Sindh health ministry said the full board would meet at 10am on Friday at the same place in the JPMC to examine 13-year-old student Mohammed Ahmed Hussain, and submit its report to the government the same day.
The board is headed by the CHK neurosurgeon Junaid Ashraf.
Besides determining the possible cause of injuries, the officials said, the board would examine the child and furnish its recommendations for his line of treatment within the country or abroad.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has already ordered the secretary of the universities and boards to launch an inquiry into the incident.
Earlier, the special medical board, headed by Civil Hospital Karachi’s neurosurgeon Junaid Ashraf, was to meet at 11:30am on Monday to examine the student at the medical ICU of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
But it could not meet owing to the unavailability of board chairman Ashraf and another of its member – Dr Umar Farooq, professor of ENT at Civil Hospital.

what about the real culprit behind this event. We want to see that person prosecuted harshly and should be life sentenced.
