STAFF REPORT

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the international community again reposed its trust in Pakistan and understood the objective of International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS 2016: “Arms for Peace”).

During a reception hosted in the foreign delegates’ honour, he said such mega events not only help in the reintroduction of the country to the world as a progressive country, but also help other countries come and see how Pakistan can help them out with their defence needs.

He appreciated the participation of international defence companies, trade delegations, and high level representatives of different countries in the International IDEAS 2016.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also lauded the Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO) for having held such a mega event in Karachi and for setting a platform for the world to showcase their defence related products and enhance mutual understanding in the field of defence.

He appreciated the facilities for foreign and local companies, and lauded the efforts of everyone who worked hard to make the IDEAS 2016 a successful event in the city.

He said as a nation we are happy to know that IDEAS had emerged in the world as one of the best platforms for the defence industry and had come a long way since its inception in 2000.

Now Karachi is recognized as an ideal host city for such mega events because the international community had also endorsed government efforts. The participation of international defence exhibitors and delegations from around the world is the testimony to the fact that Pakistan is the hub of commerce in this region, he added.

He also prayed for the health of Governor Sindh Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui.

At another time, talking to media-persons at Expo Center during his visit IDEAS 2016, he has said that it was something to be proud of that Pakistan defence industry had managed to establish itself in parallel with the defence industries of the developed world. Pakistan army is strong enough in training, equipment, morale and wartime production, he said, adding that it was ready to meet any aggression from across borders.
