Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that he was trying to work for the preservation and protection of archaeological sites in the province. For this purpose Sindh government needed necessary assistance from donor agencies, he added.
The Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah stated this while talking to Italian Ambassador Mr Stefano Pontecorve who called on him with Consul Rubagotti here at the CM House on Thursday. Principal Secretary to CM, Naveed Kamran Baloch, was also present on the occasion.
He said that the UNESCO was supporting Sindh government for rehabilitation of archaeological site of Makli hill, adding that work was in progress at Moenjodaro. There are a lot of other sites which need to be preserved and protected, he said.
The Ambassador of Italy said that he had enough funds –maybe $4 or $5- for the preservation of archaeological sites for which purpose his government was ready to work with Sindh government. They agreed to further coordinate on the matter.
Later, the CM Shah presented Sindhi cap, ajrak and memento to the visiting diplomat.
