In a country where we see rise in sectarian-related attacks and targeted killings by violent sectarian groups, where sectarian violence is among the critical threats to the country’s internal security and stability, where sectarian discrimination is increasingly penetrating individuals’ attitudes and behaviors, there the peaceful observance of chehlum of Imam Hussian across the provincial capital is a great landmark. Thanks to Punjab Government and Provincial Police Department whose untiring efforts from dawn to dusk and tight security measures resulted in peaceful conclusion of the chehlum. Since Pakistan is already facing many hardships therefore no room should be left for the opportunists to exploit the situation. Besides tight security measures, the Government should also focus on dialogue among different sectarian groups as sectarian harmony is need of the hour and it should be maintained at all costs.

Shias community is spreading its procession routes every year. In Rawalpindi the organizers were asked to wind up the procession by *8 o clock but they remained on roads until 11.00 pm such lapses cause security problems.
