Pakistan will be polio free by the end of 2016: UNICEF

UNICEF Representative Pakistan Angela Kearney says that through coordinated and collaborative efforts of international organisations and the government of Pakistan, polio will be eradicated from the country by the end of this year.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, Angela Kearny said that in 2014 there were 309 polio cases in Pakistan, which has reduced to only 17 this year.

In 2014 500,000 children could not be given polio drops. Today the number of children without polio drops is much lower, she said.

Speaking on the issue High Commissioner of Canada to Pakistan Perry John Calderwood said that efforts should be made for the allocation of right resources for child related development.
