Bilawal lashes out at PML-N, PTI over maligning slain mother

Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has criticised the ruling PML-N and the PTI for attacking Benazir Bhutto a decade after her assassination.

In a message posted on micro-blogging social media platform, Twitter, the PPP chairman said: “#NakaamLeague and #NainshafLeague still attacking SMBB a decade after [her] martyrdom. Jyalas remain calm. Let them do politics, we serve #Bhuttoism.”

The tweet comes in response to sate minister Abid Sher Ali’s claim that Ms Bhutto’s name was also included in Panama Papers and assertion of PTI’s Naeemul Haq that the Qatari prince’s letter presented by the Sharifs before the Supreme Court on the issue was “doubtful” like the will of Ms Bhutto made public by Asif Zardari after her murder.

Hours after his statement from London, Mr Haq denied he had talked of Ms Bhutto’s will.

Bilawal urged PPP supporters to remain calm and follow in the footsteps of the late Benazir Bhutto. He reminded the PPP detractors that Benazir Bhutto could never be compared or equated to ‘cowards’.

In another tweet, he claimed that “the PPP has always done high moral ground politics,” pledging to follow in his mother’s footsteps.

Lashing out at the PML-N, he said the “Nakaam League couldn’t even face a day of dictatorship, went packing with their handbags,” a reference to the ouster of Prime Minister Sharif by the then army chief Parvez Musharraf in October 1999.

“SMBB [Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto] can never be compared or equated to cowards,” the tweet reads.

He warned his opponents, saying, “…as a flaming red line. Cross at your own risk. Remember, Meh Mir Aur Shah Ka Bhanja Bhi Hoon (I am the nephew of Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Shah Nawaz Bhutto).”

Meanwhile, Bilawal has nominated Dr Asim Hussain as PPP Karachi Division president, Saeed Ghani, PPP Karachi general-secretary and Shehla Raza information secretary.

He also nominated Ali Madad Jattak as PPP Balochistan president, Iqbal Shah, general-secretary; Humayun Khan as PPP Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa president and Faisal Karim Kundi, general secretary.

Meanwhile, newly-appointed Punjab PPP president Qamar Zaman Kaira warned the PTI leadership of a “matching response” if it again dared to give derogatory remarks against the PPP leadership.

“Demonstrate maturity as you know how far we can go,” Kaira warned the party.
