The walled secret

As the everyday life of Islamabad hustles on, nobody stops to think about the secret hidden right under everyone’s noses, away from the rest of the city. The walled French Colony in the F-7/4. This colony is home to more than 550 families, and 6000 residents. The living conditions of this place provide a sharp contrast to one of the best sectors, in which it is located.

It is our job to look after our minorities and ensure that they have a life worth living. This would include trying to bring these people a voice, employing development authorities to clean the place and at least attempt to restore hygienic conditions. These people do not have access to basic human rights like water, electricity and sanitation. Maybe it is time to stop ignoring these souls and stop treating the whole affair like a well-kept secret no one cares about. Maybe it is time to start treating them as equals, educating them and looking after them. Maybe it is time to reclaim Islamabad, by benefitting each and every citizen; no matter what the circumstance, location, ethnicity or religion.
