Pakistan strongly rejects as ‘false and baseless’ the Indian media reports regarding the alleged mutilation of an Indian solider at the Line of Control (LoC), its Foreign Office said Tuesday.
“These reports are a fabrication and a blatant attempt to malign Pakistan,” said FO spokesman Nafees Zakariya on Twitter, in response to Indian media reports of alleged mutilation of an Indian soldier at the LoC.
“As a professional force, Pakistan Army isn’t involved in any such unethical and non-professional activity, and neither supports any such action.”
He, however, said that Pakistan was fully prepared and ready to respond to any misadventure across the LoC, Working Boundary or International Border.
“Factually, India constantly violates the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, targets civilians and tries to divert international attention from its atrocities in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK),” Zakariya said in his tweet.
Pakistan’s protests ceasefire violations by India
Earlier in the day, the Director General (SA & SAARC) Dr. Mohammad Faisal summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh and strongly condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations on November 21 by the Indian occupation forces along the LoC.
According to Foreign Office spokesman, the incidents occurred in Jandrot, Nikial, Karela and Baroh sectors resulting in martyrdom of four innocent civilians and injuries to 10 others.
The top Pakistani diplomat stated that the deliberate targeting of civilian-populated areas by the Indian forces was deplorable.
He also condemned the violation of Pakistan’s Maritime Exclusive Economic Zone by an Indian naval submarine on November 14, in violation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
The DG urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding and UNCLOS, investigate the continued violations, and instruct the Indian forces authorities to respect the ceasefire and international borders in letter and spirit.
For nearly three months now, Indian forces have been violating the ceasefire agreement along the LoC and the Working Boundary. The aggressive posturing and continuing unprovoked fire by India has resulted in martyrdom of a number of Pakistani civilians and military troops.
’30 civilians killed in recent LoC violations’
Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Tuesday told the Senate at least 30 civilians, including women and children, have been killed during recent LoC violations by India.
He said the Pakistani forces have been responding to the Indian firing and shelling in equal measure, effectively targeting the Indian posts.
